Homework
I aim to place homework instructions on this page each week. Links to MyMaths is above.
Monday 25th February
I hope you all had a good half term. I remind you that there will be a Class 5 assembly on Friday 1st March at 9.05 and parents are welcome to attend.
For homework this week there will be some MyMaths work on Ratio which we will be covering class this week. I have also exteded the date of previous work set on percentages as a few children have not yet completed this. Please check on MyMaths that you are up to date.
Children will be bringing home their work they did during their last maths assessment, please take time to look through this with them and support where able. Some questions we have been through as a whole class; some I have been through on an individual basis.
I am really keen that children read for at least 20 mins a day, please encourage this at home.
I have also attached the next series of spellings for your child to ensure they know. These words are high frequency words and do not follow a spelling pattern. Children will be also given the opportunity to learn specific spellings during class time to learn and practise.
Thank you for supporting children with their projects. So far the work has been varied and interesting and presentations have taken place with confidence. Thank you for your support.

Monday 4th March
Thank you for attending the Class 5 Assembly this week. It was lovely for children to share their work with so many people. This week it is World Book Day (Thurs). For homework, children should complete a book review and bring it in on the day, they could win a prize! For more details please see our home page.
The Big Write is focussed on non-chronological reports this week. We will be researching different animals on Wednesday. To get ahead please consider researching an animal of your choice in advance.
Monday 11th March
This week I have left some work on coordinates on MyMaths for you to complete. Please remember to complete the lesson first before doing the work. I would also like you to chose a favourite book character and either describe the character in full or you may draw and label your character. Remember to describe the personality of your character as well as how the character looks. I hope to display these in the library so make them good!
Monday 18th March
Thank you for the super character descriptions handed in last week. We have a lot of very good artists in our class! This week I have added two exercises to do on MyMaths. Both of these are on symmetry and I definitely advise completing the lesson first for the rotational symmetry questions. We will also be writing a letter at the end of the week for our Big Write, so please brush up your letter writing skills by completing the Bitesize revsion on the link below.

Monday 22nd April
After a super visit to Leeson House, I would like the children to complete a brocuhure aimed at young people on Leeson House. They have started this at school and need to complete this by Friday as usual. I have also added some work on MyMaths with a focus on decimals. Now is also a good time for children to be looking at MyMaths Booster Packs to aim for their next level. Please talk to your child about this. I will remind them this week.
Monday 29th April
This week I would like you to focus on your new reading journals. Please add in a description of one of your favourite characters from a book you have read. Remember to describe how your character looks as well as exploring their personality. If you have not completed the cover of your reading journal, please finish this too. I have been very pleased with the journals handed in so far. Remember to show the journal to your parents so they can add any comments they wish.
Tuesday 6th May
I hope you had a good Bank Holiday. I have set MyMaths for you to complete by Sunday 19th May on the topic of money. I would also like you to chose a character from one of your reading books and write an acrostic poem about them. As this is a short week, no need to hand this in till Monday 13th May Please ask your parents to write comments in your reading journals.
Monday 13th May
I hope you enjoyed the Christchurch Food Festival this weekend. Please remember to hand in your acrostic poem, written in your reading journal on a favourite character. I would also like you to spend some time on your MyMaths booster packs this week. Finally, I would like you to read something from an information text this week. Anything you find out could be recorded in your reading journal. I would like this in on Friday as usual.
Monday 20th May
As it is World Week this week, I would like your child to find out some information about a country of their choice. They may decide to pick a country they have learnt about during the week or pick another. Information could include: Key cities, rivers and landmarks; the languages spoken; customs and beliefs etc. We have covered mind-mapping in class so it would be nice to present it in this form in their reading journal. The children can hand this in after half term. I have also added some MyMaths too. Have a great half term!
