Welcome to Class 5

Dear Parents,

I hope you had a super holiday and your child is ready and eager to learn after the Christmas break break. I thank you for all your lovely cards and gifts.

Please may I remind you to inform the school office of any changes of address/phone numbers and to ensure your child’s medical details are up to date. May I also request your child has the correct and clearly school uniform. PE tracksuits should either be a plain black or navy.  Children should only bring in a small bag to school as we have very limited storage space. Please also note that nail varnish is not permitted.

Big Write

Children will undertake a Big Write at the end of each week. English lessons will lead up to the Big Write so children are fully prepared for their writing on Fridays. Please ask your child on Thursday nights what they will be writing about to support their planning process.  The ability to talk about their writing to each other is vital. Each child will be provided with ‘Wows’ (What they did well) and ‘Tips’ (Areas to improve) after their write. Work will be marked for their use of vocabulary, connectives, openings and punctuation (V.C.O.P) as well as spelling, handwriting and grammar. Please ask your child what their ‘Tip’ is each week. P.E.

P.E will be on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please ensure your child has suitable P.E kit for both indoor and outdoor wear. Children may take their kit home each Wednesday provided they bring it back the following Monday. This will enable them to keep their peg and corridors clutter free.

Home time

Please ensure your child is collected at 3.15 after school. Should you wish your child to leave school without adult supervision the relevant form should be submitted to the school office giving your child permission to do so. May I remind you should you require pre/after school care to contact Lynn Newman from Poppets at the Regent Centre.
